Dear Professors, Researchers and Colleagues:
We cordially invite you to participate in the first annual CBST Spring Science Workshop, an all-day event intended for CBST research faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students to view the Center’s 2006-07 Research Portfolio, as presented by the individual research groups.
The meeting is organized around two poster sessions, which will systematically cover CBST projects in advanced imaging and spectroscopy and cellular/molecular biophotonics in the morning, and medical biophotonics in the afternoon. After each session, the researchers will briefly convene for Q/A and to discuss relevant issues in the field(s).
Each project group is asked to submit two items:
1. A project poster describing the rationale, goals and specific aims, methods and any recent or initial data. Also, if the project is successful, what major impact will it have? We will provide a Powerpoint template (and access to last year’s posters for those projects which are continuing). We strongly recommend that the poster emphasize graphics (e.g., figures, images, graphs, etc) over large sections of text.
2. A 1 to 2 page write-up that summarizes these points in narrative form. (Please submit one or two pictures which could be used as cover images for the project.) Please also include a list of any new peer-reviewed journal articles or research grants which have been published, funded, or still in submission, since May 2006.
In order to make full use of everyone’s time and effort, we hope to use these materials in the upcoming Annual Report to the NSF (due April 30th) as well as for the NSF Site Visit (May 30-31). Also, we are inviting members of the Science Program Review Committee (Sci-PRC) to attend this workshop. If they can participate, it will eliminate the need for us to hold another similar meeting before the summer.
We are looking forward to seeing all of you at this event. For catering purposes, please RSVP with a list of names and email addresses of those in your group who will be attending.
As always, thanks for your consideration and support..!
