One of the most exciting emerging areas in scientific research involves light – specifically, harnessing its powers to diagnose and treat medical conditions.

Called biophotonics, it’s the subject of the second installment in our Cutting Edge of Science Lecture Series for 2006-07. Dr. Marco Molinaro of UC Davis’ Center for Biophotonics will discuss “Seeing the ‘Invisible’ With Biophotonics” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Davis branch of the Yolo County Public Library, 314 E. 14th St. Dr. Molinaro’s lecture will begin with an explanation of the fundamentals of biophotonics, followed by hands-on demonstrations of non-invasive technologies to monitor health and then a discussion of cutting-edge research at UC Davis’ Center for Biophotonics. The lecture is free and reservations are not necessary.
