Abstract
The optic field within a microcavity offers a unique environment for the detection of biomolecules. Microdroplets within microfabricated channels support optical cavity resonances; their potential for sensing biomolecules will be discussed. In addition, the use of functionalized nanophosphors for multianalyte detection schemes be described. The interaction of these materials with cells will be demonstrated.
